Kids Under Construction

One of the wonderful things about the Biblical writers is the sense they convey of being in process. They realize that God is a God who is continually creating; that God’s Grace is continually moving through us; that the person who can be open to this creative power and can feel a sense of movement and expansion within is the one who experiences God’s life-giving Grace most fully. “It does not yet appear what we shall be,” the Apostle John has written (1 Jn. 3:3).

If there is anyone who had a right to think of himself as a finished product it ought to have been the Apostle Paul. After all, he wrote a large segment of the New Testament. And yet we find him near the end of his life with the feeling of still being in process, still becoming, still learning, still growing.
