HOW THE MIGHTY ARE FALLEN
One of the classic television come- uppances was the famous story about the actor Adolph Menjou who used to appear from time to time on the Jack Parr show. For those of you who don’t remember him he always played the suave, cocky, continental character. He made a great maitre d’. And he always dressed with great care and looked like he had just stepped out of a band box. And he and Jack Parr often discussed proper dress – – what to wear after 5, what you should never wear before 5, all that sort of stuff. And this one time he and Jack Parr got into a discussion and Menjou was going on at some length in a smug sort of way about how important it was to dress properly, and I believe he was even walking about showing off something he was wearing, when Jack Parr noticed, and commented, that Menjou’s fly was unzipped.
