In the movie, “Almost an Angel,” Patti Hogan was trying to arbitrate between two kids at a recreation center who wanted the same ping pong paddle. He tried using the story of Solomon and the two mothers who wanted the same baby to solve their problem. He told them of Solomon’s decision to cut the baby in half. They said, “ooooh, that’s gross!” Then he said “Now, let’s cut this paddle in two, and you can each have half,” hoping they would give in like the mother in the story of Solomon.
