WHEN THEY DON’T WANT TO HEAR
A high- priced management consultant was brought in to train and motivate the corporate troops. He got up there and gave it his best shot and it soon became obvious that there was a great deal of resistance among the ostensible listeners. They were conveying with their body language and their lack of enthusiasm that they were not with him. The speaker paused for a goodly portion of time, enough to gain their attention and said, “This reminds me a great deal of trying to teach a pig to sing. It costs a lot of money, and it makes the pig mad.” The ice was broken and the communication began.
