Other people I look for are the “epaulet men.” On the eve of the Battle of Saratoga in 1778, Daniel Morgan led his Morgan Rifles against the British army led by Gentleman Johnny Burgoyne. Morgan compared his troops and ammunition to the strength of the British, and it was obvious his Rifles were going to lose the battle. So the night before the battle, Morgan gathered his men and said, “Don’t waste your shot on those who fight for sixpence a day.
