Fruitfulness,

“Dear Lord,” we pray,

“I’m at the end
of all my resources.”

“Dear child,” the Lord answers,

“You’re just at the beginning
of Mine.”1

God’s resources extend beyond our human comprehension. The miracle of God’s creation is awesome beyond all human expression. God’s plan for our fulfillment is beyond — infinitely beyond — even our deepest, fondest, most treasured hopes and dreams. In this sense, we are always at the end of our meager human resources, always in need of opening ourselves up to “outside” resources, so to speak.

The true Source of our fulfillment as mere humans lies outside, yet is forever knocking on the doors of our inmost being, wanting to come in. Opening the doors requires trust in the awesome power of the ultimate Divine resource: the power of Love as revealed to us and made present to us in Jesus Christ.
