A successful businessman suddenly realized he was caught up in an aimless existence. He visited a therapist and told of his long struggle to be a success. He talked about working long hours, grueling competition, sacrifices made by his family, the many rungs he climbed trying to get to the top. “When I arrived at the top,” he said, “it didn’t feel as I thought it would. I felt empty. I looked around and decided I had propped my ladder against the wrong building.”

If you are feeling empty now, it may not be easy to admit that you have propped your ladder against the wrong building. Things as they are (bad as they are) may seem safer than things as they ought to be. It may seem risky to try to change all that. Therefore, listen to Jesus:
