A certain bachelor told his mother that he finally had met the girl of his dreams. He desperately wanted to impress her, so he asked his mother for advice on the best approach. “Send her flowers,” said mother, “and on the card invite her to your apartment for dinner.” He followed his mother’s advice and, a few days later, the girl of his dreams came to dinner. Later, the bachelor’s mother asked him how things had gone. “I was totally humiliated,” he said. “She insisted on washing the dishes.” “What’s wrong with that?” mother asked. “We hadn’t started eating yet,” he replied.
In today’s Gospel Lesson, a crowd of more than five thousand persons followed Jesus as He climbed a hillside.
