It was the committee membersí responsibility to patrol the church every Sunday to see if anyone was asleep during the sermon. One Sunday, a committee member dutifully marched up the center aisle and proceeded to wake up the preacher.

There are times, I am willing to admit, when we could use such a committee around here. But not today! Never on Easter Sunday! Christ is risen! And thatís our earth-shattering, mind-boggling wake-up call.

Today is the day when banners are flying, at least figuratively, over every Easter Sunday congregation throughout the world.

Today is the day of joyous celebration for the Christian Community. Why is it we celebrate with such intensity?
