We all like to hear good news and pass it on to others. For example …

ìIíve got good news for you,î a father said to his little girl. ìGod has just sent you a baby brother.î The little girl exclaimed excitedly, ìGreat! Whereís mom, Iíve got to tell her!î

In a letter to a friend, Mark Twain once wrote,

ìIíve been reading the morning paper well knowing that I shall find in it the usual depravities and baseness and hypocrisies and cruelties that make up civilization and cause me to put in the rest of the day pleading for the damnation of the human race.î

The problem with that attitude arises out of the misguided notion that the public media has a corner on all the available news of man and his world. But our Gospel Lesson today and all the Lessons embraced by the community of Christ is that there is a more reliable source of information about ourselves than the public…
