It was Christmas vacation in Disney World, and a father, trying his best to do the right thing, had to repeatedly refuse to take his eight-year-old daughter Amanda to the hotel swimming pool. Despite just getting over a nasty cold, over-and-over again she asked, and over-and-over again the father had to answer, saying loud and clear: “No! End of discussion!” (to all the parents out there, does that sound familiar?). That is until later that night when he read a note which his daughter had placed on his pillow. It read, “Dear Daddy, I hate you. Love, Amanda.”
You love your children, you love your spouse, you love your parents, you love your friends. And, over-and-over again you demonstrate your love for them in a hundred different ways. In other words, you’re trying to do the right thing. Yet, here is Jesus in our midst saying, loud and clear, “That’s not the end of the discussion! You must try harder!” And He doesn’t mince…
