The father of two was away on a business trip …
The mother, son and daughter were having dinner at home. Little Johnny, age eleven was allowed to sit in his father’s place.
Johnny’s older sister resented the arrangement. “So you’re the father tonight,” she taunted. “All right, tell me, how much is nine times fourteen?” Without a moment’s hesitation Johnny replied, “Ask your mother!”
When God decided to come to us and to focus His love for us in a tiny Baby, He did it in a family setting. He penetrated our human situation in a family context.
We now are living in a time of deep pessimism and cynicism about marriage and family. Consequently, it is very important for us as a Christian Community to affirm the life enriching value of the family, and to do all we can to strengthen it.
We’re very busy in these times when “getting ahead,” is our number one priority. Even so, this does not relieve us…
