A little girl was given her Birth Certificate to take to a new school …
“Be sure not to lose it,” her mother said. So, she lost it. When someone saw her crying and asked what was wrong, the little girl replied, “I just lost my excuse for being born.”
In today’s Gospel Lesson, Jesus and His disciples are making their way to Jerusalem. At one point they encounter a man who expresses a desire to be born again as a follower of Jesus. The man expresses a willingness to do so and then begins to offer excuses for putting off his good intention for a while. He has other priorities, he tells Jesus, in effect saying, “I’ll see You later.” Jesus tells all “wanna be” followers that their number one priority in life must be in His words, “to, go and spread the news of the Kingdom of God” (Lk. 9:60).
