“Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” And so they twisted some thorns into a crown, and they put it on His head, and they slapped Him in the face, and they gave Him a Cross to carry to His place of execution. And they crucified Him on that first Good Friday.
Through areas of conflict and violence, the Way of the Cross winds, carrying a message of peace and reconciliation.
Through areas of poverty and human degradation it winds, bearing a message of justice and equity.
Through areas of condemnation and retribution it winds, bearing a message of compassion and forgiveness.
Through areas of spiritual torment and despair it winds, bearing a message of hope and New Life.
Through areas of disbelief and indifference it winds, bearing a message of trust and commitment.
Jesus did not identify with a single hour of passion or with a short last mile to execution. Rather, He identified with every human person’s moment of passion and death, every human person’s life…
