“Give way to one another in obedience to Christ” (Ephesians 5:21).

“Submit.” The word submit is powerful. It means to give precedence to others.

In Greek, the word “submit.” is a participle that should be translated as “submitting.” It calls for continuous action.

“Submit to one another.” Who is it that we are to submit to? The Bible tells children to submit to their parents. Christians are told to submit to one another.

Marriage is the call for husbands and wives to submit to one another. This means (First Name) and (First Name) are to submit to one another – not because you have to, but because you want to. Christian submission is a voluntary choice rather than a legal requirement.

What does voluntary Christian submission mean for marriage? It means, (First Name) and (First Name), that you adopt as your own the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the other person.
