WHAT FRIENDSHIP MEANS
To be a friend and to have friends is one of the noblest goals for which we can aim. Friendship is complex and has many facets, but it certainly exhibits the following five attributes. Friendship means understanding and being understood. To be misunderstood puts a person adrift in a sea of loneliness. Let’s try to look through the eyes of those around us. Friendship means affirming and being affirmed. Picture people as leaky inflatable dolls. Our air valves are on our backs, out of reach for self-inflation. The only solution is to pump each other up with praise, compliments, and expressions of gratitude. Friendship means accepting and being accepted. Birds of a feather may flock together, but sometimes we end up around some really strange birds! A true friend says, “You don’t have to be like me for me to like you.” Friendship means helping and being helped. We are a Godsend for hurting people who cross our paths. Our own…
