TWO SIDES OF THE PULPIT
Dr. Fred Craddock presents a humorous contrast between the front and back of the pulpit as retold by Galen E. Skinner of San Bernardino, California: The front is beautiful and well kept, but the back is often the place of leftover bulletins, broken pencils, songsheets, forgotten water glasses and the stereotypical funeral home hand fan. Dr. Craddock went on to liken our experience in the Church to being prepared for both sides of the pulpit. Service has its triumphs and defeats, its joys and just plain labors. The wise believer unites with the church prepared to work as a deaconing, in the VBS, in the Church School teaching, with visitor calling, and financial stewardship.
