NO NEED FOR SHAME
During this last Easter, our ministerial association sponsored a community food collection. I was confronted by a man who was offended by the “Steps to Faith in Jesus Christ” on the back of our information sheets. The name “Jesus Christ” caused him great offense. I told him that I understood his offense, BUT: “Be happy that Jesus Christ is in my life. I am of Norwegian and German descent. My Norwegian relatives raped and plundered all of Europe. My German relatives are famous for the Holocaust. Without Jesus in my life I would be a HEDONISTIC HUMAN PREDITOR, without Jesus Christ in my life, YOU WOULDN’T BE SAFE!” How true it is! Jesus Christ personally transforms my life! I would be kidding myself if I thought I would necessarily be better than the worst of my ancestors. I know the darkness of my heart.
