Those of us who live in Hawaii have a unique opportunity when it comes to major sporting events. Because of the time difference between Hawaii and the continental United States, the television broadcasts of major sporting events are often delayed to fit prime time in the islands. Radio broadcasts are always live. As a result, it is possible, by listening to the radio, to know the outcome of a game before it is shown on television. One example of this is the NFL Monday Night football game. The game is generally played around mid-afternoon Hawaii time, so the local station delay its telecast until 6:30 in the evening when most people are at home from work. This means the game is over by the time it is shown here on television. When my favorite team plays, I am too excited to wait for television, so I listen to the game on the radio. Then I watch the game on television that night.…
