ROOTS ARE IMPORTANT I
‘ll never forget a visit with my dad several years ago! We made the usual trip to the cemetary and then drove around the “old neighborhood” so that he and I could reminisce about the old days. Dad was over eighty then, so his memory went way back, and fortunately the years had not dulled his power of recall. As we drove up and down the familiar streets, different because of the evolutionary processes of social change, we both pointed out the highlights of those days of yesteryear. A home, a vacant lot, a rock, a memory of those long gone, and then I spotted it. I spotted the tree which sat on the edge of the hill. I remember the tree well because we used to build up the snow around its rugged roots for our sleds. All around me the homes had deteriorated , but that tree with its convenient root still stood.
