NONEXISTENT VOLUNTEER
In a recent Beetle Bailey cartoon, Sergeant Snorkel is standing in front of the company and he says: “I need a volunteer for garbage duty.” You see a hand raised in the ranks. Sarge gets this pleased look on his face and says: “Okay, the rest of you are dismissed.” The company takes off like scalded dogs and there’s Sarge with this shocked look on his face as he stares at a pole standing up with a glove stuck on the end. A nonexistent volunteer.
