Israeli leaders ironically had to choose to break their own law in order to negotiate peace with the Palestine Liberation Organization. Jewish law disallows such negotiations with PLO leadership. Yet at the invitation of the Norwegians, the Israelis have been secretly negotiating with the Palestinians in Norway. And it is possible that progress has been made. Amid criticism from their own constituencies on both sides of the conflict, these courageous leaders reflect the frustration of a war-torn world. It is not at all certain that the people will support the decisions of their leaders. But one thing is for sure; there is a higher law than the law of Palestinians or Israelis – THE LAW OF LOVE.
