KILL THE SPIDER
A man went forward to kneel and pray every Sunday after the sermon. And every Sunday he loudly prayed the same prayer, “Lord, take the cobwebs of sin out of my life.” Sunday after Sunday he did this. It soon became apparent to the congregation that he really didn’t want to get rid of the sin; he only wanted to be free of the burden of it, the “cobwebs” in his life. One Sunday the pastor knelt beside the man, and when he once again prayed, “Lord, take the cobwebs of sin out of my life,” the Pastor prayed aloud, “Lord, don’t just take the cobwebs of sin out of his life, kill that dadburn spider!” Killing the spider removes the cobwebs.
