DEALING WITH BURDENS
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” Martin Luther wrote about that passage. The world assumes that peace comes only when a burden is taken away. If a man is poor, he thinks of becoming rich. If a dying man can escape death, he believes he will have peace. But Luther taught this is not how Christ gives peace. On the contrary, Christ often allows the burden to lay on us. Rather than taking the burden from the person, he takes the person from the burden!
