We was just sittin’ there
swappin’ a story or two
Trying to pass the time
The best we knew how to do
Jacob got out the flute
He was fixin’ to play a tune
When we all saw a bright light And
we knew it weren’t the moon
We was still tryin’ to figure it out
When we heard an angel shout
“Don’t be afraid,
I come with good news
I have a message of joy
Bundled up in a boy
The Savior is born today
You’ll find him in a quilt of hay”
Then the sky was filled with song—
The angel had brought some friends along
“Glory to the Newborn King”
We heard all them angels sing.
As soon as the angels were all gone
And we were once again alone
