HE IS JUST LIKE ME
An Englishman came to visit his American cousins. On the last evening of the visit, one of the Americans said, “Please tell us what your father, our uncle, is like, since we’ve never met him.” The English guest answered, “Those who know us both well say that I am the very image of my father. The best I can say is that by meeting me, you’ve come to know what my father is like.” In effect, that’s what Jesus said to his disciples on the night of his crucifixion. When Philip said, “Show us the Father and that will be enough for us,” Jesus responded; “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:8-9). From The Warm Heart, Volume 1, Number 1, published by Bristol House, Lexington, Kentucky
