THE MARRIAGE BOX
J. Allen Peterson suggests that many enter into marriage believing the myth that marriage is a beautiful box containing companionship, sexual fulfillment, intimacy and friendship. He believes marriage is an empty box. Something must go into the box before anything can be taken out. Marriage does not contain love or romance. People do. His conclusion is that a couple “must learn the art and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising–keeping the box full.” Without filling the box as we take from the box, the box will empty.
