CLOTHES MINDED
During the 1992 Summer Olympics, all U.S. athletes were required to wear Reebok warm-up suits at the awards ceremony. Charles Barkley of the U.S. basketball “Dream Team” anticipated the probability that his team would win the gold medal. He said, “Us Nike guys are loyal to Nike because they pay us a lot of money… I have 2 million reasons not to wear Reebok.” When it comes to being clothed with righteousness, perhaps we too quickly lose sight of our loyalties and appreciation for what the God has done for us. The temptation to wear something other than the Lord’s righteousness is sometimes too enticing. Taken from Newsweek, August 10, 1992, submitted with commentary by Jay Martin, First Baptist Church, Manistique, Michigan
