BAPTISMAL HANG-UPS
Always excited about the opportunity to baptize, I had taken my place in the baptistery when I remembered that one of the candidates had requested that her nose and mouth be covered as she was lowered into the water. I had forgotten to bring a handkerchief into the baptistery. But knowing there were plenty of clean handkerchiefs in the dressing room, I whispered to the man helping me to bring me a handkerchief from the dressing room. He looked a bit puzzled by my request, but hurried off to fulfill it. In a moment he returned and handed me a clothes hanger, which he though was what I had asked for. There I stood, fully robed, candidate in the water, and with a wire hanger in my hand. What do you do with a clothes hanger during the middle of a baptismal service?
