THEOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE
What John Baillie said about mystery in theology is particularly true of the atonement. To theologize is something like drawing a map of the world on a flat surface. It is impossible to do without some distortion, losing size or shape or both. We need more than some distortion, losing size or shape or both. We need more than one map to do the subject justice. With only one we may confuse the man who doesn’t know that the picture represents a sphere.
