HIJACKING PEACE
It was at this time that the thought first crossed my mind that all of us could very well be dead within the next five minutes. I hadn’t really thought about it before, but now it seemed very likely that that’s what would happen. But right behind that thought, before I even had a chance to get nervous, another thought entered my head. “Well, that wouldn’t be so bad. Because if I die, I’ll get to see Jesus!” From that moment on, the peace of God flooded into my being. Suddenly, I was not afraid — and I can honestly say I never experienced another moment of fear during the seventeen-day ordeal that followed. I experienced worry and anxiety, yes, over the well-being of the passengers and wondering how Phyllis and the rest of the family were coping with the situation.
