DADDY TAKE
Many years ago, on a Sunday morning when I was to preach in my congregation, I arose early to meditate, pray and study. As I tiptoed past my baby daughter’s crib, I stepped on a squeaky floor board, and she stirred. I froze! I didn’t want to wake her. So I waited for what seemed like an eternity before I took another step. As soon as I did, the board squeaked again. With that sound, my daughter shot out from under the covers and was standing in her bed with her arms open wide to me. And what she said caused my heart to overflow with emotion and love. She said, “Daddy take!” “Daddy take” was her way of asking me to take her into my arms and hold her. How could I refuse? She was offering me her unconditional love.
