IT JUST SLIPPED OUT
I vividly remember a whipping I received from another boy when I was in the sixth grade. I thought that I was going to go home to be with the Lord. He nearly killed me! I retold this story to my congregation. When I finished the story, I called the fellow a “lardhead.” Really! It just popped out.
I didn’t plan to say it.
I didn’t mean to say it.
I didn’t want to say it,
but I said it anyway! I just stood there shocked. I said to the people, “Well, I guess I still have some hostility in my heart toward the fellow after all these years.” What else was I to say? Is “lardhead” a bad word? Would you want me to call you “lardhead?” It simply wasn’t proper. I am forever reminded of my own humanity. No doubt, you are reminded of it too.
