LOVE LIKE SALT A
King asked his three daughters how much they loved him. The two oldest daughters replied that they loved him more than all the gold and silver in the world. The youngest daughter said, “I love you better than salt.” The king wasn’t especially pleased with her remark, so he laughed and dismissed it as an indication of his young daughter’s immaturity. The cook happened to overhear the conversation and the next morning left the salt out of the king’s breakfast. It was then that the king realized the deep meaning of his daughter’s response. In essence she was saying, “I love you so much that nothing is good without you.” It’s amazing what a pinch of salt can do to bring out the flavor of food. A big bowl of popcorn is bland without salt. Christianity is to life what salt is to food. Christianity gives flavor and seasoning to life. The Minister’s Manual for 1982, pg. 62
