THE BRAVES COME FROM BEHIND
I learned a lesson in the fall of 1992, about not “giving up.” It was the seventh game of the National League Pennant Championship games. Game six had been a blowout for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and now, the series was tied 3 to 3. The momentum was with Pittsburgh, and I watched off and on as they gained a 2 to 0 lead, and held it into the ninth inning. I gave up on the Braves, knowing that the Pirates would be in the World Series. I went to bed with the dreadful acceptance that my favored team had missed it this year. They had lost, and they would not be in the 1992 World Series. I was up the next morning running my two miles. It was chilly that morning.
