THE HIGH COST OF CHURCH GROWTH
A few years ago, the church I pastored purchased a 36,000 square foot nightclub. My treasurer at the time said that the building looked as if it had been “ridden hard and put away wet.” I am not a cowboy, but I understood what he meant. The place was a mess. It came complete with bingo boards, disco lights, and gallons and gallons of beer and wine. The project was not for the faint of heart. One Wednesday night service stands out in my mind. It took place shortly after we moved in. The building was nearly the size of a football field with no interior partitions.
