THE FLYING FLOWER GIRL
Of all the weddings I have conducted, none was more memorable than that of a young couple from our church in Arizona. It was a large wedding with many attendants, including a precious little four-year-old flower girl. During the wedding, as four-year-olds are inclined to do, the flower girl could not stand still and continually wandered about the platform. Because of constant shifting and movement, she ended up standing directly behind the bride, both feet on the bride’s train. When it was time to light the unity candle, the bride reached down, pulled up on her train, and up went the flower girl! It was an amazing sight. Both little feet flew up into the air, and in something resembling a wrestling “body slam,” the four-year-old landed flat on her back. The loud, resounding boom that occurred was too much for the congregation to bear. The outbreak of laughter which followed even had the minister in tears. The Apostle Paul…
