A homeowner in a new community went to the town’s building inspector to get permission to build an addition to his house. He found the inspector unloading boxes in his new office. The homeowner described what he had in mind, and the inspector asked to see the plans. After studying them a few minutes, the inspector wrote a few words on a sheet of paper, made a copy, and said, “Permission granted. Here’s my okay.” Sometime later in the year, a neighbor of the homeowner sought permission to do the same thing.
