SUBMARINE TOUR
I happened upon a friend from high school after moving back to my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. It was obvious by his appearance that he had joined the military. I asked him, “How do you like life in the Navy.” “It’s OK” was the less than enthusiastic reply. “When I enlisted, they told me I would ‘See the world!’ I’ve been out of the United States for more than two years, but I haven’t seen anything of the world.” “Really” I asked, somewhat dismayed at his answer. “Really,” he said. “I’ve got to get off of that submarine!”
