CHRISTMAS EMOTIONS
In the cartoon, Sally Forth, Sally says to her mother after she has just viewed the large family Christmas tree with all the packages lying beneath it: “Have you ever noticed how one particular emotion gets real strong at Christmas time?” Her mother stops, reflects and then answers, “I sure have, Honey. I get so nostalgic at this time of the year. I like to think back to the times of Christmas when I was your age — the memories of decorating the tree… singing carols… baking cookies… It’s so much a part of the holidays for me. I’m impressed that someone your age is already aware of the richness of holiday memories.” Sally walks back over to the tree, looks at the piles of wrapped gifts, and thinks to herself: “Memories? I was thinking about GREED!” Adapted from a submission by Eugene Barron, Littleton Christian Church, Littleton, Colorado
