STRESS FOR KIDS
Hospitals are now letting parents drop off their sick children for the day. At elementary schools the kids are in before breakfast and are kept after class doing homework, crafts or sports until they can finally go home. Teenagers today are expected to be sexually active and to work out a moral code of their own for coping with sexuality, mature enough to deal with the disciplines and difficulties of contraception. Kids expected to deal with parents’ divorce without emotional damage, to handle life with a single parent without problems, to grow up strong without a father-in- residence or even with never having had a father’s name. The truth is that… we are redefining children to fit adult needs and conveniences and to take a minimum of adult time and attention.
