FAMILY PRIORITIES
The American male at home. Quick, which images come to mind? Football, beer, TV? Nope. Nope. Nope. According to a random phone survey conducted for Spiegel, Inc., American men are more interested in romance than in running backs, suds or sitcoms. The nationwide survey, called “Americans on the Home Front,” reports that men’s favorite home activity is making love, following by spending time with family and listening to music. (The study was conducted without lie detectors.) Women, on the other hand, listed spending time with family first, followed by listening to music and, finishing a poor third, making love. The study, which asked 500 men and 500 women to rank 17 at-home pastimes, also shows that men enjoy home improvement projects and exercise more than women do. Women, it says, like pampering themselves, organizing their closets and talking on the telephone more than men to. What do the sexes agree on? Watching TV (ninth) and ironing (dead last).
