Matthew Henry, the great commentator, wrote concerning church discipline: “What light proud scorners may make of the censures of the church, let them know that they are confirmed in the court of heaven, and it is vain for them to appeal to that court, for judgment is already given there against them. They that are shut out from the congregation of the righteous now, shall not stand in it on that great day.”
