COMFORT YE MY PEOPLE
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He didn’t mean to fall asleep in the pew.
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He didn’t mean to lie on our couches and watch Christian television.
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He didn’t mean to stay within the safety of our walls of our church and not confront the world with its sin and not try to get involved in changing it.
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He didn’t mean to stay in our affluent countries and use ninety percent of the world’s wealth to make ourselves healthy, wealthy, and wise.
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He didn’t mean to spend our tithes and offerings on air conditioning and glass cathedrals.
When God said, “Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people,”
He means for us…
