BOYS NEED HEROES
You were my hero, you were the wind beneath my wings… Little boys need a hero… a real life, day to day hero. They need someone who would hug them and protect them and give them a shining model of manhood. They need someone whose trust and belief in them will buoy them up when they are young eagles just learning to fly. Boys who are lucky enough to have loving, supportive fathers discover that the frantic wing-flapping of their boyhood soon gives way to strong, rhythmic beats of their wings. As young men they are able to ride the thermals above the mountains and valleys. From In the Company of Men, by Marvin Allen
