WALK SLOW
When my friend Terry Edele was a young pastor ministering at his first summer youth camp, he asked a veteran youth worker, “How can I be a better counselor for these kids?” “Walk slow,” was the response. “If you rush from cabin to dining hall to pool to cabin again, no kid will approach you. But if you walk slow, they know you are available. Before you know it, they will fall in step and begin to open up to you.” Walking slow can lead people to Christ. In our “drive-through world,” maybe if we “walk slow” — making ourselves available to people — possibilities will open up for them to find the Christ who is available to them as well.
