DAD’S CLOTHES
A father heard a roar of laughter from the other members of the family, and he walked into the hallway in time to see his little boy coming down the stairs dressed in a full suit of Dad’s clothing. He had tied a string around the bottoms of the trousers and pulled the waistband up under his arms. The long coat dragged on the floor. The big hat flopped to his ears. His feet were lost in his father’s size-eleven shoes which clomped down the steps. After joining in the laughter, the father said, “I’m going to take a picture. There’s real truth here. My little boy wants to be like his father.” He snapped the camera, later putting the developed picture in his desk. Every time he opened the drawer, the father saw the snapshot which seemed to say, “Look, Daddy, I’m following you. I want to be like you!” From For Men Only, by J. Allan Peterson
