ELEPHANT WORSHIP
As a circus parade moved noisily through the streets of Milan, Italy, an elephant suddenly swerved out of line and meandered into a church. Prancing up the center aisle and snorting every now and then, this visitor swung his trunk around, then marched back to the procession. Someone commented that many humans seem to worship like this religious pachyderm. On Sunday mornings we veer into church, make a few sounds, look around at the congregation, then move back outside to join the parade. From Worship: Together we Celebrate, by Leslie Flynn, pg. 20
