NUT GATHERING
One morning in my romantic- poetry class, the instructor was discussing how much these poets valued their intense relationship with nature. He asked the class to share any similar experiences. A student from Chile spoke up and told us of his recent visit home after an absence of two years. He had been homesick and was feeling nostalgic as his flight crossed the Andes from Argentina. I had goose bumps as he described the view he enjoyed from the airplane window: majestic mountains, lush green valleys and sparkling sea-coast. His voice was filled with emotion as he recalled the breathtaking panorama of his beloved Chile. When he finished, there was a long pause. Then the instructor cleared his throat. “Well,” he said sheepishly, “I suppose there’s no point in telling you my gripping tale of the squirrel I saw gathering nuts this morning.” Readers Digest
