Leap Of Faith

Albert Einstein once engaged a leading Churchman in earnest conversation about Faith. Said Einstein, “I respect religion, but I believe in mathematics. Probably it is the other way with you.” “You are mistaken,” the Church leader replied. “To me, both are merely different expressions of the same exactness.” Einstein answered, “But what would you say if mathematical science should some day come to conclusions directly contrary to your religious Faith?” “Oh,” said the clergyman, “I have the highest regard for the competence of mathematicians. I am sure they would never rest until they discovered their mistake.” What a wonderful example of the trust Jesus calls forth from us in today’s Gospel Lesson.
